Working safely around the network

Safety Clearance Checker

The Ausgrid Safety Clearance Checker provides a service for council planners, private certifiers, developers and land owners to check whether a building proposal may fall within minimum network infrastructure clearance area, and should be referred to Ausgrid for further safety clearance checks.

How to use this service

  • You can use the search tool to check an address within Ausgrid's network area. When prompted, confirm if the development application will include a swimming pool. If the lot or land parcel displays a red overlay, any proposed development within the red zone will require a referral to Ausgrid.

About the data

  • The Safety Clearance Checker provides a visual indicator displaying any areas of a property that may fall within the minimum network infrastructure safety clearance area.
  • The Safety Clearance Checker does not show locations of electricity network infrastructure. Any person seeking the location of underground cables should contact Before You Dig Australia. The location of overhead network assets can be checked on the Look Up and Live website.

Contacting Ausgrid

Council Planners can refer applications to Ausgrid in the NSW ePlanning Portal. If you have an enquiry about a proposed development near Ausgrid assets please contact Ausgrid on 13 13 65 or submit an online enquiry
